Sterling and Shelli Gardner Foundation Donates $2,500 to Work Activity Center

The Work Activity Center is grateful for the continuous support of the Sterling and Shelli Gardner Foundation and their generous grant donation of $2,500 to support our Healthy Lifestyle Initiative. The Healthy Lifestyle Initiative was created to improve the health and fitness of the clients we support. The Initiative improves the independence and health of our clients through the use of personalized fitness plans and accessible exercise equipment. Our results from our first year have been nothing short of impressive and because of gracious donations like this we plan to extend the program to more individuals this year.

5th Annual "Joy to the WAC" Campaign

christmasThe Work Activity Center invites you to participate in the 5th annual "Joy to the WAC" campaign. This is an opportunity not only to support the Center’s work, but also to identify the specific need or program you wish to support. On the Joy to the WAC Wish List you will find a holiday wish list, which contains key equipment, program and facility needs. Center staff has thoughtfully identified these “wishes” as those things which will best help us as we endeavor to provide quality services to our clients.

We’ve had many successes here at the Center in the past year. Through generous contributions from private and individual donors, we have been immersed in our multi-year Building Initiative. Plans to renovate and upgrade our West Valley facility have started with great enthusiasm. We have also been laying the foundation for creating greater work opportunities for our clientele that are seeking employment outcomes in the Employment Services program through community-based contracts. Our Healthy Lifestyle Initiative continued with impressive outcomes of increasing the physical fitness of individuals in our services. A major initiative which has taken effect in the last year has been our Healthy Lifestyles where we are increasing the physical fitness of individuals in our services. As we move into the holiday season, the Center and our clients are grateful for all the support we receive from our friends, relatives and partners.

There are numerous ways in which you can help people with disabilities through this campaign. You can enable our clients to enjoy an evening out, you can help purchase needed recreation and fitness equipment or help us obtain craft supplies for our day services program, and much more.

At this time one of our greatest needs is to continue our various renovation projects and updates at our West Valley facility; we’d like to ask you to please consider a gift to our Building Fund. Our clients and staff alike are feeling the effects of our well-used and aging building which is in need of repairs, upgrades and improvements. Our West Valley Center has served our clients well for 20 plus years – we feel a sense of urgency to continue to engage in important renovations, such as replacing the flooring and windows and giving the Center a new coat of paint. At the same time, our apartment renovations are pending as we are waiting on needed funds.

All “Joy to the WAC” gifts will be recognized as part of our holiday decorations – we’ll add your name and gift to a Center logo, and display it in the front entrance of our West Valley location. We encourage you to visit us at the Center to view our holiday decorations, and to see how your support makes a difference in so many ways. If you would like to learn more about this special program, please contact Anna at (801) 977-9779 ext. 126.
