Exercise Specialist

Work Activity Center is a non-profit service center committed to enriching the lives of people with disabilities. We provide day activity programs and at-home care designed to promote independence and personal development.

The Work Activity Center is seeking an Exercise Specialist.  This person is responsible for the successful development, implementation, and assessment of the exercise program. The Exercise Specialist assures that appropriate clients participate fully in the program and that adequate data is recorded to fully assess the progress of each participant, the effectiveness and value of the exercise program to the Center’s clients, and to fulfill the record keeping and reporting requirements for the grant.

Compensation: $13.00 per hour

Schedule: Full-time: Part-time: Monday-Thursday, 25 hours a week

Mondays: 8am-12pm

Tuesdays: 8am-4:30pm

Wednesdays: 8am-12pm

Thursdays: 8am-4:30pm

The Exercise Specialist fulfills the following duties:
- Develops and utilizes effective record keeping systems that will assure that accurate and complete records exist to satisfy the requirements of the grant.
- Maintains accurate records regarding each participant, and in a timely manner provides the required documentation and reports as requested.
-Identifies appropriate participants for the program
- Assures that participants are assessed by a physical therapist, that the exercise programs recommended by the physical therapist are implemented and followed according to the instructions of the physical therapist, and that participants are reassessed by a physical therapist as necessary.
- Regularly monitors and records data that accurately tracks each participant’s progress in the program.
- Creates and schedules exercise activities and engages clients in exercise activities that adhere to the instructions of the physical therapist.
- Monitors each participant and assures that each participant performs exercise activities in a safe manner that achieves the client’s goals and that does not jeopardize the well-being of the participant.

Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in Bachelor degree exercise science program
- Communicate effectively and efficiently in both spoken and written English
- Competence in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Must have a valid and current Utah driver’s license and be able to pass an MVR annually
- Must be able to pass a drug test and criminal background check
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or one-quarter of body weight.

Day Program Manager

PROGRAM MANAGER - ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Monitor and manage program involving a caseload of participants
- Train, supervise, and coordinate schedules for a team of support staff
- Responsible for the proper care of participants and oversees their individual progress

- Assist participants with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene assistance.

Residential Services Coordinator

STATUS: Full-time

SALARY: $45,000-50,000 per year, DOE

SCHEDULE: This is a position that requires flexibility.  The majority of the shifts will be evenings and weekends, with the occasional need to work a graveyard shift.  The Residential Services Coordinator supervises the homes of adults with disabilities and while most of the shifts will take place in those homes, sometimes there will be meetings, doctor appointments, and other scheduled activities throughout the day Monday-Friday.

The Residential Services Coordinator is responsible for assuring that all residential services are of the highest quality and meet the individual needs of each client.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans and directs the execution, improvement, and expansion of residential services
- Assures an adequate level of support and an appropriate home for each person receiving services
- Oversees Residential Managers in their role of ensuring that that the daily living, social, and medical needs of clients are met
- Provides oversight to ensure that apartments and furnishings remain clean and well-maintained
- Works closely with Residential Managers to ensure that staff are appropriately and adequately trained and that they adhere to company policies and procedures
- Supervises, evaluates, and disciplines staff. Addresses issues within Residential Department.
- Assures effective and open communication within the residential services program and between the residential and day services programs
- Embraces the Center's mission of enriching the lives of the individuals we serve by providing them with opportunities for independence and individual growth, and teaches the support staff to do the same.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree
- Two years of successful management experience in a related field
- Previous work experience supervising a team of employees
- Previous work or volunteer experience as a direct caregiver
- Valid Utah driver license, clean driving record, and reliable personal transportation

Warehouse Clerk

The Work Activity Center is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Warehouse Clerk to assist our Warehouse Coordinator in overseeing the activities and production jobs in the Employment Services program.


Schedule: M-F, 8 am- 1 pm- 25 hours a week
Salary: $12-14 per hour
Status: Part-time

Location: West Valley City, UT

 

Essential Duties:

-Print orders sent to the Center

-Pick and pull for orders the needed product

-Inventory products related to products

- Move product as needed with a pallet jack

- Ensure that products needing shipping are picked up in a timely manner

-Delivering/Obtaining product from outside vendors as requested.

-Prepares invoices when product delivery is complete.

 

Requirements:

-High school diploma

-This employee is required to drive for the Center’s Warehouse needs.  Requirements for driving include having a current and valid Utah driver’s license, must be 21 years old, be able to pass an MVR annually, and maintain insurance on personal vehicle.

Manager of Operations

The Work Activity Center is looking for a stronger leader for a Manager of Operations position to oversee the financial and operational health of our organization. The Work Activity Center is a non-profit that is one of Utah’s most vibrant work and training alternatives, providing an invaluable resource for over 200 participants and their families. Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that the Center’s financial obligations are fulfilled in a manner consistent with the Center’s fiduciary responsibilities to its clients, financial supporters, and all regulatory agency requirements.

  • Use current and historical financial data to forecast revenues, expenses, and other financial needs to assist the Executive Director and Board of Trustees in strategic planning.

Facilities Manager

The Work Activity Center is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee, as well as implement, approved repairs and improvements to physical facilities owned and leased by the Center.  In addition, the Facilities Manager assures custodial contracts are accomplished in a quality manner and that a maintenance scheduled is prepared and followed to maintain the personal property of the Work Activity Center.  For over 50 years, the Work Activity Center has enriched the lives of people with disabilities by providing individuals with opportunities for increased independence and individual development in day services and residential settings. Employment Specialist

SCHEDULE
Part-time position with a flexible schedule (afternoon, nights, and some of the hours need to be on the weekend) working up to 30 hours per week

Starting pay is $12.00-14.00 hr, depending upon experience


The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, extremely organized, has the ability to pay close attention to detail, and will maintain a working knowledge of the needs of each assigned customer. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Driver

The Work Activity Center delivers residential, employment, and daily activity assistance to enrich the lives of people with disabilities. Our activities and services promote individual growth and independence in the lives of our program participants. We have an immediate need for a part-time or full-time driver who will operate a mini bus and transport our clients to the day activity center in the morning.

Adult Community Residential Manager

We are seeking an Apartment Manager who has experience in the Human Services field supporting people in residential settings.  This is a great opportunity to positively impact the lives of the people we serve by helping to implement improvements and help maintain the quality of life of our residents. The Apartment Manager ensures that all aspects of the residential program are performed according to standard and that residents' physical, medical, and social needs are met. 

Schedule: Full-time; Afternoons, evenings, and weekends; the ability have a flexible schedule is required. This program is located near the Valley Fair Mall in West Valley City

Starting Salary: $16.50 per hour, plus $500 signing bonus

The Apartment Manager fulfills the following duties:

- Schedules employees work time.  Fills in employee's shifts as needed.

-Schedules and assures adherence to all daily routines and activities for individuals receiving services.

- Assists the Residential Coordinator in maintaining training for all employees.  Maintains own personal training.

- Develops and documents individuals programs for assigned individuals.  Assures all necessary paperwork including but not limited to data collection (programmatic and medication tracking), petty cash, fire drills, monthly safety check off list, and doctor visit reports are completed

-Ensures all medical and dental appointments and reviews are made and accompanies the individuals to the necessary appointments.

-Participates in and supervises other residential trainers to assist residents with food preparation, house-keeping, shopping, community inclusion, monitoring of health needs, personal hygiene and money management

- Attends meetings as needed including Annual meetings, Human Rights Committee, supervisor training meetings, etc.

-Creates a weekly housekeeping schedule. Assigns and oversees staff in cleaning apartment.

-Provides direct supervision for other employees working for the residents.

 

Requirements:   

- Bachelor’s degree related to human or social services.

-Two to five year’s related experience in the human services field. Education may be substituted on a two for one basis.

- At least 21 years of age

- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and spoken English

Custodian - Vacuuming Specialist

We have need for a Custodian who will assist with cleaning and maintaining commercial and industrial buildings, or other establishments such as schools, stores, and auditoriums. Work will involve cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, dusting, and touching up glass and floors as needed.

Residential Apartment Lead

The Apartment Lead fulfills the following duties

-Teaches and trains individuals receiving services to do as much as they can for themselves.

-Creates weekly menus and completes grocery shopping in accordance with the menu.

- Indirectly supervises 5-7 employees in the assigned Residential section.

- Routinely trains staff members on data collection, menu planners, medication logs, and all other job requirements.

- Schedules and assures adherence to all daily routines and activities for individuals receiving services.

-Implements programs such as community and home based activities, money management including creating a list of needs and wants for the individuals receiving services, spend down shopping, and maintains petty cash fund.
