Custodial Supervisor

Status:Part-time

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 3:00- 8:00 pm, Part-time

Starting wage: $10.00-11.00 per hour

The Work Activity Center is a non-profit service center committed to enriching the lives of people with disabilities. We have an immediate need for a Custodial Supervisor who will supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in providing janitorial services for commercial and office buildings.

The Custodial Supervisor will be responsible for supervising a team of custodial staff and assuring that the custodial services team meets the expectations of building management in fulfillment of the cleaning service contract. The Custodial Supervisor will monitor work quality, provide coaching and feedback as needed, and operate basic cleaning equipment such as vacuums and floor sweepers. Previous custodial service and supervisory experience is preferred.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Must be physically capable of walking or standing for duration of shift
  • Able to lift and carry 50 pounds

Support Staff

Job Coach

The Work Activity Center is a non-profit service center dedicated to enriching the lives of adults who have physical and cognitive disabilities. We are seeking a part-time addition to our employment services division where we provide supported employment opportunities and job skills training.

The Job Coach trains and coaches clients in the performance of their production work, encouraging them and assisting them in reaching their individual goals.  The Job Coach inspects the work produced by program participants, evaluates their abilities, and assists them in their efforts to obtain employment.  This is a rewarding opportunity to serve people in the community and assist with facilitating production projects that provide job skills development for our program participants.

Schedule:  Full-time, M-F, 7: 30 am- 3:30 pm

Starting rate of pay: $10.00 per hour plus benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, paid time off, retirement, and holiday pay.

JOB DUTIES
-  Actively teach and train program participants to complete job tasks to the level of satisfaction required by the employer
-  Assist program participants with developing skills and tools needed to apply for jobs
-  Evaluate job opportunities and identifies job openings for which participants may apply based on their skills abilities
-  Assist participants with all aspects of applying for job opportunities preparing for job interviews
-  Provide support after a job is obtained to ensure success in learning the job responsibilities, acclimating to the work environment, and adequately performing the required duties in order to maintain employment

IT Intern

For over 50 years, the Work Activity Center has enriched the lives of people with disabilities by providing our participants with opportunities for increased independence and individual development. We provide day activity programs and at-home care designed to promote independence and personal development.  We are seeking a part-time IT Intern who will assist with installation, modification and repairing personal computer hardware and software systems and providing technical assistance.

 

Schedule: Part-time

Starting Salary: Negotiable, depending upon experience

 

Qualifications

- One year certificate from college or technical school; and A+ certification or 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Proficient in Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software. 

- Must have a valid and current Utah drivers license to be able to drive for the Center. 

- Must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds or ¼ of body weight. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Installs or assists service personnel in installation of hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers and disk drives on user’s premises.

Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, work processing, or spreadsheet programs into computer.

Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation.

Responds to employee inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems.

Instructs users in use of equipment, software, and manuals.

Recommends or performs minor remedial actions to correct problems.

Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager.

Replaces defective or inadequate software packages.

Completes assignments accurately, on time, and is available for review by supervisor.

Maintains network mainframe and upkeep ensuring that computers are working at full capacity.

Maintains inventory of computers, printers, monitors, and software.

Repairs equipment as needed.

Notifies supervisor of concerns or problems with computer equipment.

Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time.

Driver

The Work Activity Center delivers residential, employment, and daily activity assistance to enrich the lives of people with disabilities. Our activities and services promote individual growth and independence in the lives of our program participants. We have an immediate need for a part-time or full-time driver who will operate a mini bus and transport our clients to the day activity center in the morning.

Recreation Specialist

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Develop and implement individualized physical activity programs
- Oversee the Exercise Specialist to ensure that the individual exercise programs are proceeding as intended and that participants are progressing in reaching their individual goals
- Use observable and measurable data to monitor and report on the progress of program participants related to various exercise and recreational programs
- Advise and direct support staff on safe use of exercise equipment and proper involvement in participants' recreational activities
- Design and maintain instructional documents related to proper leisure and recreational activities and routinely engage staff and participants in these activities
- Foster community inclusion to help participants have meaningful lives
- Assist in the planning, promotion, and coordination of participant-centered holiday parties and special events
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 21 years of age

- Valid Utah driver license and a good driving record (required to drive company vehicles)

- 2-year degree or certificate of completion in recreational therapy, exercise science, or related field

Accounting Clerk

For over 50 years, the Work Activity Center has enriched the lives of people with disabilities by providing our participants with opportunities for increased independence and individual development. We are seeking a full-time accounting clerk who will track and maintain participants' personal budgets, assist participants with monitoring their finances, and process payments for accounts payable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
-Track and monitor participant income and expenditures in QuickBooks; produce monthly financial reports
-Reconcile participant bank accounts accurately and in a timely manner
-Receive and verify invoices for vendors, accurately post invoices, prepare accurate payments, and ensure invoices are paid by the payment due date.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
-Associates degree in accounting or related field with minimum of 1 year of accounting experience, or high school diploma and minimum of 3 years of accounting experience
-Ability to communicate fluently in both written and spoken English
-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and QuickBooks
-Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Utah driver license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Ability to proactively identify problems and resolve them in a timely manner
-Ability to use data analysis tools to identify trends and identify potential errors in expenditure tracking or usage
-Excellent time management and administrative skills - ability to work independently without close supervision

Adult Community Residential Manager

We provide individualized support to people with disabilities to reach personalized and meaningful goals through day activity programs, employment services, and residential supports.

We are seeking an Apartment Manager who has experience in the Human Services field supporting people in residential settings.  This is a great opportunity to positively impact the lives of the people we serve by helping to implement improvements and help maintain the quality of life of our residents. The Apartment Manager ensures that all aspects of the residential program are performed according to standard and that residents' physical, medical, and social needs are met. 

Schedule: Full-time; Afternoons, evenings, and weekends; the ability have a flexible schedule is required. This program is located near the Valley Fair Mall in West Valley City

Starting Salary: $34,320 per year

The Apartment Manager fulfills the following duties:

- Schedules employees work time.  Fills in employee's shifts as needed.

-Schedules and assures adherence to all daily routines and activities for individuals receiving services.

- Assists the Residential Coordinator in maintaining training for all employees.  Maintains own personal training.

- Develops and documents individuals programs for assigned individuals.  Assures all necessary paperwork including but not limited to data collection (programmatic and medication tracking), petty cash, fire drills, monthly safety check off list, and doctor visit reports are completed

-Ensures all medical and dental appointments and reviews are made and accompanies the individuals to the necessary appointments.

-Participates in and supervises other residential trainers to assist residents with food preparation, house-keeping, shopping, community inclusion, monitoring of health needs, personal hygiene and money management

- Attends meetings as needed including Annual meetings, Human Rights Committee, supervisor training meetings, etc.

-Creates a weekly housekeeping schedule. Assigns and oversees staff in cleaning apartment.

-Provides direct supervision for other employees working for the residents.

- Bachelor’s degree related to human or social services.

-Two to five year’s related experience in the human services field. Education may be substituted on a two for one basis.

Residential Apartment Lead

The Work Activity Center is a non-profit service center committed to enriching the lives of people with disabilities. We provide day activity programs and at-home care designed to promote independence and personal development.

An experienced lead is needed to assist in overseeing residential services for adults who have disabilities. This is a great opportunity to positively impact the lives of the people we serve. The Apartment Lead ensures that all aspects of the residential program are performed according to standard and that residents' physical, medical, and social needs are met. 

Schedule: Full-time; Afternoons, evenings, and weekends; Required to be on call at least two nights per week and as needed according to the schedule.

Starting Salary: $10.50 per hour

The Apartment Lead fulfills the following duties

-Teaches and trains individuals receiving services to do as much as they can for themselves.

-Creates weekly menus and completes grocery shopping in accordance with the menu.

- Indirectly supervises 5-7 employees in the assigned Residential section.

- Routinely trains staff members on data collection, menu planners, medication logs, and all other job requirements.

- Schedules and assures adherence to all daily routines and activities for individuals receiving services.

-Implements programs such as community and home based activities, money management including creating a list of needs and wants for the individuals receiving services, spend down shopping, and maintains petty cash fund.
