Manager of Operations

The Work Activity Center is looking for a stronger leader for a Manager of Operations position to oversee the financial and operational health of our organization. The Work Activity Center is a non-profit that is one of Utah’s most vibrant work and training alternatives, providing an invaluable resource for over 200 participants and their families. The Work Activity Center enriches the lives of people with disabilities by actively providing opportunities for independence and individual growth.

Compensation: $70,000-80,000 plus benefits that include medical, dental and life insurance, retirement benefits, paid time off, and paid holidays.


  • Ensures that the Center’s financial obligations are fulfilled in a manner consistent with the Center’s fiduciary responsibilities to its clients, financial supporters, and all regulatory agency requirements.

  • Use current and historical financial data to forecast revenues, expenses, and other financial needs to assist the Executive Director and Board of Trustees in strategic planning.

  • Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of all aspects of payroll preparation, tax reporting and withholding, accounts payable/receivable, annual budgeting, annual audits, retirement savings plan and workers compensation.

  • Oversees and supports the Front Office, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Building Maintenance teams to ensure all operational needs are met.

  • Upholds and promotes compliance set by regulatory agencies, policies and procedures, accurate record keeping, and training standards.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration or Finance

  • 3-5 years progressively responsible finance or accounting experience (minimum 2 in non-profit sector).

  • 2 years experience supervising staff

  • Experience with high-level strategy development, planning, and strategic forecasting.

  • Experience providing financial analysis, forecasting solutions, and strategies.

  • Experience preparing integrated financial statements, developing financial reports, and identifying trends or issues that may require attention

  • Expert level in Microsoft Suite including Excel and QuickBooks

  • Valid Utah Drivers License with clean driving history
